| Paris. Edition de l'Elephant Vert. 1929. 64pp. A collection of philosophical thoughts and aphorisms, with a cover design, portrait, 7 striking full-page wood engravings, and 9 illuminated letters and tailpieces by the author/artist, Paul-Franz Namur. Limited edition of 300 copies, of which just 10 copies printed on 'japon imperial', lettered A-J. This copy lettered 'F' , with presentation inscription from Namur 'pour mon amie Claire Marecal', also includes a loosely inserted printed afterword, with additional letter to Kokolando and advertisement for the book. The collation of this work is difficult.... the afterword publicity giving 64 pages and 20 woodcut illustrations, but the actual work being of 54 pages and the title page giving 12 illustrations. The truth appears to be in-between - our copy showing no signs of lacking either pages or illustrations. Printed wraps, with slight crease across front cover. Well-preserved copy generally. |
