| Privately printed; no date (c. 1950). 4to. 74pp. With 8 full-page engravings and further engraved vignette illustrations by Leon Courbouleix. A handsome production, presumably published at the artist's expense, printed on hand-made Angoumois paper from the mills of Henri Lacombe at the Verger de Puy Moyen. Initials, capitals and figures are hand-coloured in red throughout, whilst each page has a gilt design at head and foot. The illustrations, which have a mildly erotic flavour, consistent with much of Courbouleix's work, are finely etched and reproduced within embossed frames. Edition limited to 350 copies, numbered and signed in pencil by the artist - this copy # 87. Loose-leaf withiin pictorila wraps, bearing a portrait of Musset on the front cover, marbled card folder and matching slipcase. The paper rather wrinkled and crisped as is to be expected with hand-made paper of this ilk - but otherwise an excellent copy. |
