Each volume contains a coloured frontispiece and two or three other full page engravings, mostly by the illustrator Clare Victor Dwiggins. Every plate is accompanied by an illustrated heavy tissue-guard, with sepia fantasy design, also by Dwiggins. One of 500 sets. Original blue cloth gilt; spines faded. Most hinges cracked, but bindings still tight. |
