| 264pp. With collotype reproductions of 11 drawings by John Yunge Bateman. Dated 1958, but actually issued in February 1959, this was the last book to be published under the supervision of Christopher Sandford, before the Golden Cockerel Press was sold to Thomas Yoseloff. Limited edition of 200 copies only, the first 75 of which were specially bound in full golden morocco, with claret inlays and a separate suite of the illustrations including three not included in the bound publication. This copy, # 26, is one of the latter handsomely bound copies, and includes the sleeve of 14 extra illustrations. Spine mildly sun-tanned. Hint of creasing to lower inner corners, probably resulting from the binding process. Otherwise a fine copy. |
